Principles and Approaches in Fungal Phylogenetic studies

The workshop will include:

  • Principles and significance of Phylogeny in Fungal world
  • Terminology of Phylogeny and Approaches
  • Applications of Phylogeny data in Host-Parasite relationships, Co-evolution and Pathogenesis
  • To start the job on a raw sequence file and sequence improvement
  • Similarity studies: Genbank, NCBI, Blast search engine
  • Databases (Mycobank, Indexfangorum, CBS, Fusarium MLST, Fusarium-ID, Straininfo)
  • Sequence viewer software (CLC Main WorkBench، Geneious، BioEdit)  
  • Sequence alignment (ClustalW, ClustalX, T-COFFEE, MAFFT)
  • To conduct Phylogenies (Neighbor-joining, Maximum Parsimony, Maximum Likelihood)
  • Phylogenic models
  • Bayesian Inference and MrBayes software
  • Reading Phylogenetic trees
  • Cyberinfrastructure for Phylogenetic Research (CIPRES)
  • Single-loci vs Multi-loci sequence analysis vs Multi-loci sequence typing vs GCPSR
  • Phylogenic species recognition (PSR) and Introducing new fungal taxa

Full Workshop Fee:

Students with ISMM membership; 60000 Toman

Students with no ISMM membership; 90000 Toman

Others: 120000 Toman

  • CLC Main Workbench
  • Geneious
  • Mega7
  • MrBayes
  • AliView
  • Figtree

Due to the fact that some of the above soft work in the JAVA environment you will need to have the Java environment on your laptop. (For example jre-8u66-windows-x64).
